Re: Slope failure at 977 Parker Drive, Coppell, Texas
Dear Mr. Griffin,
I would like to thank you for meeting me at my home this morning and personally taking
the time to review the situation.
As I mentioned to you earlier, I plan on keeping those who have underwritten (2-10 Home
Buyers Warranty, Great American LLoyd's, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
AGENCY National Flood Insurance Program, Chicago Title Insurance) the structural
integraty of our home informed as to what is taking place. I hope to be albe to persuade
those who will pay for the eventual reconsturction of my home, that monies spent now, in
the form of making sure that the dirt stays underneath my foundation in a "Standard
Proctor" approved condition, will save many more dollars in the future.
As per our conversation this morning, you said that you would do your best to provide the
following information before the end of the week.
1) The telephone nnmber and address by which I can contact the developer, Stephen
Brooks.
2) I have left messages with the Geotech, Don Reed and with the contractor's
represetative you suggested I speak with, Pat Atkins of Tipton Engineering. I have
their mailing addresses.
3) The most recent Flood Plain Map.
4) Building Permit related to the consturction of my home.
In addition to the above, as per the letter dated September 8, 1992, regarding the City of
Coppell's request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to revise "...the effective
100-year floodplain and effective floodway boundaries along Denton Creek...", I want the
following.

1) As quoted from the above referenced letter, "Upon completion of this project, please
submit an "as-built" grading and site plan, certified by a registered professional
engineer, for the reclamation area; certification that fill placed in the currently effective
floodplain as a result of this project is compacted to 95 percent of the maximum
density obtainable with the Standard Proctor Test method...". I want a copy of this
study and a site plan that pin-points the locations of the core borings used to determine
the compaction of the soils in the immediate and surrounding areas of my property.
2) Illustration of proposed fill between Cross Sections 18440 and 19930 along Denton
Creek.
3) Exhibit B, Reclamation Plan, Villages of Coppell, Phases 3 and 4, City of Coppell,
Texas," prepared by Don A. Tipton, Inc., Dated January 1991.
4) "Elm Fork Trinity River and Denton Creek, City of Coppell, Dallas County, Texas
Floodplain Reclamation Study, Villages of Coppell, Phases 3 and 4, Request for
Conditional LOMR," prepared by Don A. Tipton, Inc.
And as per your letter dated to me, December 10, 1994, the name and telephone number
of the individual you are working with at FEMA regarding the City of Coppell's current
application with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for its
recertification in the Community Rating System.
Thank you again for your time and consideration.
