PRODUCT :BRIEF
FAST-FIX FLOWABLE FILL
A new fast setting flowable fill material is now available from Custom-Crete, Inc. FAST-FIX
FLOWABLE FILL is a "Controlled Low' Strength" backfill material that is a blend of proprieta~-
cementitious materials, a b[end of concrete sands and water, mixed to a flo,,vable consistency and poured
/nco the area to be filled. It is self-leveling and can be placed with minimal effort, requiring no tamping or
compacting. FAST-FIX FLOWABLE FILL, unlike conventional flowable fill, sets in approximately 20
to 30 minutes and can be capped in 45 to 60 minutes
STRENGTH: Fast-Fix Flowable Fill is formulated to be a "Low Strength" backfill material that can be
excavated at some point in the future with a pick and shovel or light construction equipment. Its typical
compressive strengths are:
451o 60 minutes -- 20 to 30PS!
28 Days -- 60 to 80 PSI
Fast- Fix Flowable Fill will gain 60 to 70 percent of its 28 days compressive strength in the first 45 to 60
minutes after placement /hereafter its strength curve is ahnost flat, reaching its ultimate compressive
su'ength in approximately one year. Various formulations are available to give 28 day strengths of' over
200 PSI NOTE: Blends with strengths greater than 100 PSI cannot be removed with hand tools and
may be difficult to remove with excavation equipment.
DENSITY: Fast- Fix Ftowable Fifl will have a in place density in the range of 115 to 145 lbs/cu, ii..
much greater than can be achieved from compacted soils or crushed stone backfills.
APPLICATIONS: Fast-Fix Fiowable Fill can be used wherever compacted soil, crashed stone or
conventional flowable backfills are specified Examples are:
Utility cuts and Trenches Pipe or conduit encasement Voids under existing pavement
Backkfill around pref:ab manholes Foundation subbases Abandoned tanks or wells
.~DVANTAGES:
Fas; setting for thster construction Positive high uniform density
Eliminates compaction testing No compaction labor or equiptnet~l
Reduced backfill cost Can be poured in an~' weather
Sets up un,er water
ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS: Fast-Fix Flowable Fill is environmentally friendly, it ;xill not
reaci with or degrade constrvction materials designed for underground use such a pipe~ conduit . ;a/yes
et£
PRECAUI'IONS: Fluid Fast-Fix Flowable Fill is a heavy material that can exert high fluid pressures on
anx containment f'orms etc Placement around empty pipes, conduits or tanks can cause them to float
Tlxey should be filled or properly anchored to prevent shifting. Precautions should be taken to insure thc
materml, due to its fluidity, does not enter undesired areas

FAST FIX FLOWABLE FILL
(FFFF)
Fast Fix Flowable Fill is a controlled Iow strength material(CLSM) that is intended to replace
backfill dirt or gravel. The high slump flowability o¢ FFFF altows it to achieve 100% compaction
with little or no placement work. The material will achieve a 28-day strength of 60-100 psi
providing manual or mechanized excavation options. Custom-Crete's flowable fill is designed for
setting times ranging from 20-40 minutes. This provides the ability to cap the cut within I hour
after backfilling begins.
Fast Fix Flowable Fill
· Remove unstable debris from cut
· Pump excess water from hole
· Anchor empty lines to prevent I:loating
· Pour at 10-12 inch slump
· Work the material while it is fluid
Fast Fix Flowable Fill DON'Ts
· Pour the matenal dry
· Mix with wet mud or debris
· Agitate it with tools after the inilial set begins
