This should not be an additional valve/manhole location, as the plans require a valve at every access pit location. We understand there is not sufficient depth at this location to install the valve with the clearance shown in the detail on Sheet 30 of 60 (3 ft from top of manhole to top of valve). The primary concern with the limited clearance is accessibility of the valve for maintenance. I spoke to Rick O'Dell this morning regarding this issue, and he suggested the use of a fiat-top manhole, This would reduce the amount of clearance required above the valve. The cover Could be offset so that it is not directly over the valve, which would allow for maintenance personnel to enter the manhole and access the valve. Rick and I also discussed the fact that the top of the manhole would need to be raised above ground surface to prevent ponding of water over the manhole, He would like to keep the top of the manhole around 6 inches above ground surface if at all possible. Based o~ the height of the tee and valve assembly, what is the distance from the flowline of the pipe to the top of the valve? Is there sufficient depth if a fiat-top manhole is used. or will the top of the manhole need to be raised? If so, how high wirl the top be above ground surface? Let me know Jf this sounds like a viable $oJution, and we c~n have further discussions with Rick if necessary. Jf you h,~ve ar~¥ O~her recommendations, we would be more than happy Io discuss those as well. Thanks, Erika Erika Cooper. P.E. Turner Collie & Braden, Inc. 17300 Dallas Parkway - Suite 1010 Dallas. Maetec has installed the bore under $. Village Pkwy. The question that has arisen is that Rick O'Dell has requested an Air Release Manhole be installed at approximalely station 15+80 on Sheet 12 of 60. We have this bore in at the depths shown on the prints. This depth is approximately 8-6". We would not have been able to get the depth needed due to the existing 10" sanitary sewer that was crossed during bodng In order to install an Air Release Mar~hole we need to be around 11-6". We discussed this with Rick O'Dell this morning and he suggested that we send you this emaiL We had not planned on putting an Air Release Manhole at this location because it was a designed change in grade per the plans. If one is needed close to this location we would need to look at the additional cost of purchasing and installing another Manhole structure. Please let Mastec know what needs to be done to keep things moving and all parties involved on the same page and happy with whatever is decided. Thanks and if you have any questions please contact me at the numbers below. 8/5/2004
