RE: Various Issues
Dear Nelson:
Thank you for your call last week regarding the problems with the decorative metal fencing
along Lyndsie, as well as concerns regarding using the sanitary sewer line as a bridge across
Denton Creek. Before addressing those two issues, I would like to bring up two older issues, one
is sound reduction possibilities for 121 and the second is no U-tum on MacArthur situation.
First of all with regard to sound reduction, the state of Texas Department of Transportation is
completing areassessment of sound impact alongthe 121 corridor. They anticipate that it will
be completed the latter part of March or April of this year. In order to qualify for some kind of
sound reduction assistance, TxDOT studies would have to register a 65-decibel level impact on
your neighborhood. I will keep you apprised of any information that we receive from TxDOT
regarding this situation. We will be visiting with the area and district engineers at numerous
times throughout the next 30-45 days, and provide you information as fast as we obtain it from
them.
The second subject concerns the U-turn on MacAthur. I have always believed that the city of
Coppell controlled the intersection where the U-tums are occurring that causes traffic to pass
through your neighborhood on its way to Coppell Middle School North as well as Denton Creek
Elementary. Unfortunately, our legal rights to regulate traffic end at the south point of the
median at Lake Vista Boulevard and MacArthur Boulevard. We do not control that intersection;
therefore, any turning movements in that intersection are controlled by the city of Lewisville.
The city of Lewisville's actual boundaries encompass that entire intersection, as well as both the
north and southbound lanes on MacArthur in that particular area.
Finally regarding the two issues you brought forward last week, 1 believe that the Lyndsie
situation has been solved. We sent out some crews last week to investigate, and I was told that
they did find some loose metal, rewelded it, and it should be in proper condition. IfI
misunderstood this situation, please advise.

With regard to the sewer line crossing, our Public Works Department is reviewing what we can
do to inhibit that crossing being utilized as a bridge. I have also asked our Parks Department to
monitor and grant availability for bridge construction such as you suggested in your phone
message.
If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks for your
interest in your local residential area and the community at large.
