I've also scanned in the roadway and storm drain p&p sheets for the section of the road where our projects overlap. I was looking at the plans again, and we did not revise the location of the headwalls for the Bethel Rd culvert in our 90% submittal. That was on hold until the rest of the culvert design was determined. To avoid the use of guard railings, the culvert headwalls need to be 18' from the curb (f-f) to allow the decorative railing to be outside of the required clear zone. I've included the plans for the railing so that you can see those. The headwall on the north side of the culvert is a relatively minor change since the wide sidewalk (hike & bike trail) is on that side. The headwall on the south side is a larger change, since the sidewalk is narrower and there is a bend in the culvert. I drew in the revised versions of the culvert headwalls and decorative railings so that you can see the options we have. I don't know how these impact the channel design adjacent to the culvert, but the preferred option is to use a longer culvert and no guard rail. Please take a look at this and let us know what you think. Sam Meisner, P.E. Freese and Nichols, Inc. p 214-217-2235 ..... Original Message ..... I wanted to check the box culvert width at Bethel and verify we were matching what you needed. Craig .... Odginal Message ..... They show the flowlines coming into the conflicted manhole as 499 and 500. In looking at the drawings for the 12" sewer line, HDR shows the 8" line coming into the manhole one foot higher than the flowline of the 12" line. The HDR plans used a different datum for elevation so they do not have the same I Sazan Taylor - RE: Box CulvertJSewer Line Conflict Page 21 elevations as F&N The plans for Coppell Trade Center show the flowline of the 8" line coming into the manhole on the abandoned 8" line as 500.56. This manhole was tied into the new 12" line, so this is consistent with F&N plans. The 8" line will be relocated to the new manhole. It appears to me that the top of the 12" line is probably around 500 as opposed to 501 - you will want to verify this, but this may give us another foot or so to work with. I know that Ken will go for a hump in the bottom of the culvert. I gave you copies of the HDR plans and the Coppell Trade Center. We could probably lower the flowline of the box culverts a foot or so and maybe use 6'x10' boxes. >>> "Sam Meisner" <sam@freese.com> 05/06/04 9:33 AM >>> Suzan, These are the base files for the project.
