LOW PRESSURE AIR TEST FOR G~VITY
Test Procedures ....... k~ TESTING DIVISIO:{
Each section ol sewer snail be tested oetween successive manno~es. ~
Air shall be introduced into the pipeline until 4.0 psi gauge pressure has been reached.~t~t time the
att' shall be reduced and the ~ntemal' mr' pressure shall be maintained between 3.5 and 4.5 psi~~gaug ~t~ st.~ .
minutes to allow the air temperature to come to equ br um with the temperature of the p,~l~e
shall be cons~ntly monitored by a gauge and hose a~angement separate from the hose used to introduce air into the line.
Pressure in the pipe shall not be allowed to exceed 5 psi.
After the temperature has stabilized and no air leaks at the plugs have been found, the air pressure shall be used
to determine that time lapse required for the air pressure to drop to 2.5 psi gauge.
If the time lapse required for the air pressure to decrease from 3.5 to 2.5 psi exceeds that shown in the following
~ble, the pipe shall be presumed to be within acceptable limits for leakage.
If the time lapsed is less than that shown in the table, the contractor shall make co~ections to reduce the leakage
to accep~ble limits.
