Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 Shopping Center, Sandy Lake at McArthur Boulevard, Coppall, Texas Dear Mr. Powelh We have performed a geotechnical investigation for the referenced project (our report number B-5-0244, dated 05/20/85), and in this report we recommended that a four (4) inch thick concrete pavement be used in areas where light vehicular traffic is expected. The four (4) inch pavement was derived at using the following design parameters. - Expected pavement life: 15-20 years - Average 10 heaviest wheel loads: 8 kips - Number of applications per day: 10 - Number of equivalent 18 kips; single axle loads: 14,000 - Traffic Number (based on the above): 10 or less - Design Number (DN): 2.5 The following structural numbers were used for the pavement components: - Concrete: 0.5 - Select Filh 0.12 - Natural Soils: 0.08 2342Fabens FO. August 26, 1986 Page 2 A pavement cross section consisting of four (4) inches of concrete and 12 inches of select fill will have a structural number of 3.44, which exceeds the required design number of 2.5.
