RG COPPELL PUBLIC WORKS DATE: TO: FROM: RE: August 16, 1991 Frank Trando, Finance Director Rey Gonzales, Streets Superintendent Cottonwood and Carter Drive Slurry Seal Program Frank as you know C.I.P. funds have been allocated for both referenced projects. At the time of the review for these projects and the associated recommendation the slurry would have been an appropriate method of maintenance. Since the original recommendation the time that has passed has further deteriorated the pavements and the slurry operation wouldn't be the best plan of action. Staff is proposing a 2" asphalt overlay on Carter Drive which exceeds the CIP funded amount by $16,000.00 to bring the total cost to $25,000.00 and staff proposes a 1" asphalt overlay on Cottonwood. This exceeds CIP funding by approximately $18,00.00 which brings the total to $7,800.00. Both projects can be coordinated with Dallas County Road & Bridge District 1 and are the recommended approach for improvements. · Weha~e.~i~c~.ed._b.q~h..prgje~ts. i~_thepast_and the possibility of using unallocated interest monies to off set the cost increase for the recommended improvements.
