ST9801-CS 891013 (2)COPPELL PUBLIC .WORKS MEMORANDUM DATE: TO: FROM: RE: October 13, 1989 ~ Alan Ratliff, City Manager Steve Goram, Director of Public Wor Overlays Funding was approved by City Council in the 89/90 operating budget under capital improvements for the overlay of: Lodge Road Oak Trail/Shady Dale Coppell Road (Bethel to Sandy Lake) Coppell Road (Southwestern to Bethel) Sandy Lake (Thweatt to Denton Tap) $19,000 $42,000 $46,000 $11,000 $66,000 For a total of $184,800 The County has submitted estimates for these overlays plus the overlay of Southwestern blvd., which had previously been approved by City Council but had been delayed due to confusion about the classification of that road. The confusion has been cleared up now in favor of the City. The County's estimates for the costs to the City of Coppell are as follows: Lodge Road Oak Trail/Shady Dale $23,293.26 Coppell Rd. (Bethel to Sandy Lake) Coppell Rd. (Southwestern to Bethel) $33,521.31 Sandy Lake (Thweatt to Denton Tap) $17,595.58 Southwestern (Denton Tap to Coppell Rd.) $17,691.45 Funding Approved March 28, 1989 - ~13,200.00 City Council Meeting $4,491.45 $4.491.45 For a total of $7~,901.60 The reason for the remarkable differenc(} in costs is our estimate~ had to encompass the possibility that the County might not be able to financially participate the 50% for those type "B" roads. Page 2 of 2 The remaining funds which had been escrowed with Dallas County, which included $13,200, escrowed for Southwestern Blvd. are being returned to the City. The total amount being returned was $19,967.58, which would have been sufficient to perform the overlay on Southwestern. The overlays should take only 14 working days at a maximum, but delays should not be unexpected due to weather. PHB/SGG/bb xc: Per Birdsall, Street Superintendent OVERLAY.PHB
