Re: Alternate Street Light Proposed by TU Electric for
Coppell Thoroughfares
Dear Russell:
Per your speed letter of 10/6/88 (copy attached) regarding the
above referenced subject, we offer the following additional
information as requested.
We are requesting that the City decide on, as general policy,
whether the GE Decashield II traffic light is an acceptable
alternative to the KIM street light currently being used by the
City. We will install whatever street light the City desires on
the CIP projects. .Since we are at a point, however, on the Belt
Line Road south project to install street lights, TU Electric
wondered if Coppell realized that a similar and more economical
alternative street light exists. They shall install whatever
light the City desires. Regardless of the type of light desired,
the O&M costs to the city shall be the same. This is due to the
fact that the only cost realized by the City after initial
installation is a cost that is based on light intensity. Both
the GE and KIM lights will use a 250 watt High Pressure Sodium
light.
In summary, a general policy decision is what we are requesting
from the City at this time.
With this direction, we will pursue the detail work for each of
the CIP projects accordingly.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely, /; ~
