The signs were each thirty-two (32) square feet in area and were placed on the north and west sides of the building. By their placement the area of signage was increased beyond that allowed by ordinance. In addition, the sign placed on the west projected out more than eighteen (18") inches from the face of the building, which is also not allowed by ordinance. Following contact with Mr. Salerno, he has requested to retain the new signage and to remove the existing signage from the front (east) side of the structure, and the wording "restaurant" from the west side of the structure. By th~_s action, the square footage of signage will be under that allowed by ordinance and variance would be only for projection of one sign on the west beyond the 18" allowable dimension. Although technically, Mr. Salerno is now in non-compliance with both sections of the ordinance, the Council could make the removal of the older signs a condition of any approval they may consider. ~ /~ The City W~tn A Beadtiful Future ~/ PC' Box z~78 Coppell Cexas 75019 2~ 4-462-0022 February 24, 1993 PLr.
