Deforest Road Flood Damage
This spring's floods have caused severe road damage to the east
end of Deforest Road. The damage is beyond the remedial measures
that can be undertaken by in-house staff and furthermore, that
funds within the street maintenance account are insufficient to
have the county or a contractor even begin the task.
If you feel it is necessary, I invite you to make a site
observation of the damages which staff has estimated at $20,000.
This amount should be sufficient to restore the road to its
previous condition but does not include any guarantee against
recurrence if similar flooding conditions were to happen again.
As yet to be determined, an additional amount of funding would be
required if a more flood resistant solution is desired.
I would suggest at this time, that the minimum amount of funds be
expended at this time in anticipation of the development of
Villages Phase III, which borders this road. This development
will need to make improvements to the drainage in the area which
has been the primary cause of the damage.
Should you have any questions, please advise.
