ST8201-CS 881003 (2)COPPELL PUBLIC ~ORKS NElq0RANDIJN October 3, 1988 TO: FROM: RE: Randy Fleming, Ginn Inc. ~ ~ Howard Pafford, Water Utilities Foreman~~ ation~_~~Pa'~Rd. Improvement ~ Project It has been brought to my attention that the water line contractor on this project has been cutting services off and turning main line valves. This is against the City's policy as I am sure you are aware. We have discussed the procedure for shutting down main lines as well as service connections and you were informed that the contractor "is not" to turn any valves. When work in the project requires a service to be moved or a main line to be shut down, I expect to be notified 24 hours'prior to the time that the operation needs to take affect. Therefore allowing myself enough time to notify customers affected as well as other City Departments. Additionally, I would like to have a letter from you stating that this will not happen again and that this procedure will be spelled out to the contractor in a way that it is not misunderstood. Your prompt attention to this matter will be appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact me at 462-8495. HLP/bb cc: Steve Goram, Director of Public Works ces¥
