I have s~ken ~ith Brad Meyer w~th Ca~ & B~gess, t~e en~neer
for ~vo~hire, and with Steve ~e, ~e develo~r of Devonshire,
concerni~ the installation of a guardrail along the east side of
Cop~ll Road adjacent to ~vonshire. ~. ~e's ~sition was not
so much ~e cost involved or ~tential cost sharing with the City
for the installation, but his ~in concern was the aesthetics of
the ~ardrail adjacent to his soreening wall.
~th ~. Meyer and ~. ~e pro~s~ the alternative of the
installation of delineators along that stretch of Cop~ll
My oonce~ is to accurately define the problem as pr~en~ by
~ttijo~. If the pr~lem is the real ~tential of vehicles
driving off the road into the ~r ditch, then it is ~ite ~ssible
~at ~ardrails will ~ ne~ ~d warrant~. H~ever, as ~int~
out by ~. ~e, there are s~eral o~er l~ations along Cop~ll
Road that do have a sharp drop off with cross-tie retaining walls.
However, if the problem is ~sically the ne~ to ale~ the
motorists of a ~tentially dangero~ situation, ~en the
installmti~ of a series of delineators could effectively se~e
that p~e.
I would ~ happy to discuss with you what your impression of the
real danger a~d contel, as present~ by ~. Pettijo~ was. I also
told ~. G~ that you ~y wish to call him directly. If
