Re: Sandy Lake Road
In your recent review of the plans you stated that you desired a 'Y' inlet rather than a grate inlet at
the ends of Lines A and B. The location of both inlets will be past the end of the concrete pavement
and in the asphalt transkion section, which does not have curbs. It is conceivable that an automobile
could easily leave the roadway either intentionally or by accident, in which case the top ora 'Y' inlet
would present a hazard.
The TxDOT, Operations and Procedures Manual's Figure 4-21 shows that the minimum distance
fi.om the edge of an uncurbed travel lane to an obstruction, for a road with ADT greater than 1500
vehicle per day, to be 30 f~. The proposed inlet is only 5 ft. fi.om the edge of the travel lane.
