Re: Denton Tap Road Traffic Signals at
Bethel School Road and Parkway Blvd.
Dear Mr. Kamp:
As per our telephone conversation of July 18, 1989, I am writing
this letter to reiterate our discussion regarding your written
instructions to us in your June 27, 1989 letter directing us to
specify the use of the Multisonics 820 A traffic signal
controller for the subject project. For your convenience I have
attached a copy of the aforementioned letter for reference. The
reasons for your preference of the Multisonics 820 A as stated in
our June 27~ 1989 telephone conversation were:
Compatibility of operation with the existing 8-phase traffic
signal controllers in the City~ and
®
For similarity of maintenance, operation and spare parts
compatibility which will simplify replacement parts
inventory.
Our usual practice, as mentioned in our July 18, 1989
conversation, is to write an "open" specification unless we are
directed by the Owner to do otherwise. Initially the Bid
Specifications were open, but we specified the Multisonics 820 A
Controller in Addendum No. i as a result of your request. Having
received no written comments to the contrary from Mr. Goram or
Mr. Doyle, who also received copies of your letter, we have
complied with your request.
Please call me if you have further questions.
Sincerely,
John 12. Karl~ruh.r, P.E.

Modification to Traffic
Dear John:
The Director requested that I review the plans for Bethel
School/Parkway and Denton Tap traffic signals. I request that
the Multisonic 820 A Controller be specified for each project.
I would like to keep all equipment in the City in uniformity. This
would include the Moore and Sandy Lake Road upgrade project, if
applicable. Also at this site the box span would be preferred,
due to the weight of the signals and the continuous sagging. An
additional lift span has already been installed at this location
due to the sa~ing.
In appendix A - 2.0 Scope of Work, Alternate No. 2~ there is only
one traffic loop existing; the southbound through nd turn on the
north side of the intersection.
I would like to have copies of the manufacturer's instructions,
etc. covering section 01750 Warranties B & C.
On the preliminary plans, I would like to see advance loops installed
on Denton Tap Road at both locations and consideration for advance
loops off West Parkway Boulevard.
Is the third signal head for east and westbound Bethel School Road
traffic mounted on the upright mast arm needed?

I do not like the set up of the third slgnal head attached to
pedestrian walks. The signals within the city should be uniform.
