Denton Creek - Cottonwood Branch Bridge Rating
Dear Mr. Birdsall:
Our Structural Engineer, Stan Reed, P.E. (Reedcon, Inc.), has
completed his review of the Brinsap Report transmitted by your
April 13, 1989 letter, for the subject bridge. For your
convenience, I have attached a copy of Mr. Reed's comments.
We will be happy to meet with you during one of our normal
project site visits to discuss the remedial measures needed to
bring this bridge structure up to the proper rating. Please call
me if you have questions or wish to meet.
Sincerely,
John C. Karlsruher, P.E.

Re: Denton Tap Road Bridge over Cottonwood Creek
Our Job Number: 87014
Dear John:
For the above-mentioned bridge, we have reviewed the Bridge Inspection Record dated Oc-
tober 25, 1987 and the Bridge Appraisal Worksheet dated October 29, 1987. Item 67 has been
rated "4" which means the ~condition meeting minimum tolerable limits to be left in place as
is." The "Inspection Record" Item 60 states that the steel piling are "rusting @ ground line."
We recommend the piles be cleaned and painted as necessary. This repainting and the widen-
ing of the roadway will improve the rating of the bridge. In our opinion the bridge has been
performing well, is in good condition, and should be rated for "HS-20" traffic loading when im-
provements are complete.
