The metering vault and related piping are clear of the proposed paving. However, two adjustments to the facility will be necessary: The four existing traffic protection bollards (posts) are in conflict with the proposed curb alignment. The bollards and their attendant concrete slab can be removed to eliminate the conflict. The curb, when constructed, will provide traffic protection for the vault. It is recommended that the paving contractor do the work necessary to remove the bollards. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the meter vault and related piping. As an alternative, Dallas Water Utilities can do the work providing compensation is received for the cost of labor and equipment {a cost estimate will be provided upon request). The top of the existing meter vault is approximately 11" above the adjacent proposed top of curb. The top of the meter vault can be lowered to meet the proposed grade. If the paving contractor removes the bollards, Dallas Water Utilities will do the work necessary to lower the vault top at no charge. Otherwise, cost compensation for both work elements will be requested. It is recommended that this adjustment be done after the proposed curb is in place and before the final paving cleanup work is completed. Please contact ~ike Rickman, ~anager, Water Distribution, 670-8565, at least 24 hours prior to commencing removal of the bollards and at least 10 days prior to when the adjustment of the vault top is required.
