Dear Mr. Griffin:
Upon reviewing the plans and specifications with concern to Pay Item #103,
Connections to Existing Water Mains, I concur with your interpretation of the
intent of this pay item. The pay item does apply to the re-connection of the 16"
water line lowerings and all 8" water line connections. Regarding the
relocations of water lines necessitated by conflict with the 16" water line
lowering, these relocations should be paid for using the appropriate pay item
for the size of water line relocated (unit of LF) and Pay Item #103. For
example, the 12" water line relocation at Heartz Road should be paid for with
Pay Items #88 and #103.
Regarding the fire line meter vault relocation at Sta. 61 +75, the 8" conection
is included in Pay Item #114, and no additional payment should be made for the
connection itself.
