ST9301A-CS 951016October 16, 1995 Mr. Bud Beene, P.E. Dallas County Public Works 411 Elm Street Dallas, Texas 75202 RE: Sandy Lake Road ST 93-01 & ST 93-01a Dear Mr. Beene: This letter is written in response to our last joint meeting in which we discussed whether the City desired Dallas County to provide an estimate on the cost to acquire the right-of-way for Sandy Lake Road. Dallas County had stated that it has a Right-of-Way Department and would be willing to look at its ability to secure the right-of-way at the City's cost. This letter is written to request that the County pursue an investigation as to whether or not it would be feasible or timely for the County to acquire the right-of-way. Once that determination has been made, then the City would like an opportunity to either agree or disagree to have the County acquire the right-of-way. On another matter discussed at the joint meeting, the City of Coppell requested that additional sidewalks be included on the east side of the proposed bridge over the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. Upon investigation of the plans, it was noted that the City of Coppell is building wider outside lanes to accommodate bicycle traffic and also Carrollton is providing sidewalks across the bridge. However, once you clear the east side of the bridge there is approximately 400 feet to the relocated Park Road entrance. In this 400 feet there is neither wider lanes nor off street sidewalks. Because of safety concerns associated with bringing bicycles and/or pedestrians across the bridge and then not allowing them the opportunity to proceed in a easterly direction to the park entrance, the City of Coppell respectfully request that the County investigate the possibility of installing sidewalks from the east end of the proposed bridge to the west side of Park Road. This request would be for both the north and south side of Sandy Lake in this area. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. If you should have any additional questions or need any additional information please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E. Assistant City Manager/City Engineer
