Dear Atul:
Following a field reconnaissance trip yesterday, we have a few questions related to the
~,ffic signals and signal ~ng plans ~at are being used currently in Coppell at the subjec!
intersections. Answers to these questions would help us to avoid making recommendations
that have either been tried without success in the past, or would not be acceptable to the City
of Coppell. The questions are as fo[lows:
What model of Multisonics controller is being used at the subject intersections?
A~e we correct in assuming that the 85 second timing plan (TBC Plan Number 3) is
currently being used in the PM Peak period (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM), that the 80
second timing plan (TBC Plan Number 2) is currently being used in the AM Peak
period (7:00 AM to 9:00 AM) and that the signals operate in a free / fully-actuated
mode during all other times of day?
Since we noticed that the floating cycle length appears to hover around 80 to 90
seconds during the noon and early afternoon time frame, is there a mason that one
of the two. TBClqlans describe a ove i,s not bring used durip, g,the.off~peak?
Is thc City of Coppell receptive to the idea of Lead-Lag "Da]las" let-tam phasing?
What if that phasing requires modifications to signal faces (louvering) and
modifications to the signal's wiring? T
Is the City 'of Coppe-ll receptive to the idea of repressing the protected left-turn
phases during the off-peak.times in order to achieve shorter cycle lengths?
