Mr. Tony Trammell, P.E.

CMAQ Program Office
1701 N. Market Street
Suite 410
Dallas, TX 75202
Dear Mr. Trammell:
We respectfully request the locations at Belt Line Road at Airline Drive and Belt Line Road at
Lakeshore Drive to be included in the Dallas County CMAQ Program project #75. The project
consists of signal timing improvements along the Belt Line Road/Denton Tap corridor. Please
fred attached 24 hour ADT material at these two locations.
We feel the signals are appropriate since they are in an industrial area that has experienced
tremendous growth in the last couple of years, and are located between signals that are
warranted along Belt Line Rd. The traffic signal at Lakeshore at Belt Line Road will be
constructed in the next three to four months. The traffic signal at Belt Line Road at Airline
Drive may be constructed in the next 18 months.
We have conducted an analysis of the trips generated for an office/distribution building located
at the northwest comer of Lakeshore Drive at Belt Line Road. Based on the fifth edition of the
ITE Trip Generation book, the trip generation for the 217,000 SF office/distribution building
with 350 employees is 1,368 trips/day.

Entrance for employees parking is anticipated to be fully off of Lakeshore Drive with only
visitor and selected management parking entering from Belt Line Road.
With the existing volume on Lakeshore being 321 vehicles per day, a total 24 hr. projected
volume with the proposed development is 1,689 vehicles per day. Based on the projected 24
hr. volume, the traffic signal may meet the TxDOT abbreviated warrant criteria at
Lakeshore/Belt Line Rd.
The city is willing to contribute $500.00 into each of the two intersections requested to be
included into the CMAQ Program. In order for the city to pay for the local funding match, an
invoice from Dallas County will have to be submitted to us by September of this year.
Please let me know if there is any further information needed. Thank you for your assistance
in this matter.
Sincerely,
Ami Patel, E.I.T.
