Does the reinforcing for the beams (as shown in Section B on Sheet DS-l) need to be tied to the wall reinforcing? It is not necessary for the beam reinforcing to be tied to the wall reinforcing unless the contractor wishes to do so to hold the bars in place during the concrete placement. However, it is necessary for the beam reinforcement to extend into the wall a minimum of 2'-3". 2. Can the valve vault walls and wet well walls be done in a single pour? The joint at the interface of the valve vault walls and the wet well walls (shown on Sheet DS-2) cannot be eliminated. Without this joint, the wall would tend to crack at that location due to the fact that wet well walls are much more massive than the valve walls. TOTAL PAGE.02 **
