Plan Incorporation into City Project
Dear Mr. Griffin:
This letter is regarding your inquiry about County funding for the incorporation of the paving'
and drainage plans from Dallas COUnty Sandy Lake Road, Project 91-830, at the MacArthur
Boulevard intersection as part of the City of Coppell Sandy Lake Road project from MacArthur
Boulevard to Denton Tap Road..Thc City has requested that the County plans tie to the City
project at the previously determined statior~ on 'the west side of MacArthur Boulevard and that
the new concrete pavement section improvements extend through the MacArthur Boulevard
intersection to the east side of Kimbel Kourt with a 300 foot +/- asphalt transition.
It has been determined that if the concrete pavement could be extended about another 200 feet
east that storm sewer system 'D' and three private drives could largely be constructed as
designed thus saving redesign time and effort along with .future construction required to modify
or complete elements considered temporary as required for the transition. The probable cost for
this County section of Sandy Lake Road from the end of the City section is around $500,000.
The current funding estimates for Belt Line Road (91-829) and Sandy Lake Road (91-830)
indicate approximately $700,000 available for Sandy Lake Road with Belt Line Road fully
funded. The final estimates for the Belt Line Road (91-829) project are scheduled to be
completed in June.
Obviously, utilizing the probable available funds for Sandy Lake Road would reduce the
contingency available for Belt Line'Road at the time that project bids, which is scheduled for
fall 1998. Any project shortfall on Belt Line Road or Sandy Lake Road would have to be
funded by the City.

Any monies remaining after the projects would be used for the balance of Sandy Lake Road
Project 91-830, subject to the approval of the Commissioners Court, but this would likely be a
small amount, if any at all, and the City would be responsible for construction costs for the
remainder of Sandy Lake Road Project 91-830.
Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at (214) 653-7151.
Sincerely,
