SUBJECT:
Sandy Lake Road - Project No. 91-830
(MaeArthur Boulevard to Coppell City Limits)
Additional Work Issues
The following is a list of some of the items or issues under consideration as additional work for
the above referenced project:
CITY OF COPPELL (MICHAEL A. MARTIN, E.I.T.) COMMENTS DATED
MAY 20, 1996 AND SVERDRUP (SHANNON HEBB, P.E.) RF_3PONSE DATED
DECEMBER 10, 1996.
Incorporation of new Kroger Store into plans and design - Some of this item could
be considered extra work depending upon the impact to plans and Kimley-Horu's
design to the west.
Corner clip at northwest coruer of MacArthur Blvd. and Sandy Lake Road - This
minor issue should be a part of routine plan revision.
c. Pull boxes and conduit at intersections - City of Coppell Issue.
de
Shamrock driveway revisions - City of Coppell/Sbamrock Issue. This is a minor
issue but Shamrock indicated that they would bear all additional costs (including
design).
eJ
Increasing driveway radii.at commercial sites - City of Coppcll Issue. Sverdrup's
exception to this comment involves radii which are restricted in size due to
existing conditions. Larger radii could require drainage revisions or a nontangent
radius.
Eliminating/moving driveways at Landmark Nursery - City of Coppcll Issue.
However, this minor issue should be a part of routine revisions.

Low point inlets conflicting with proposed drives - City of Coppell Issue.
Sverdrup indicates theY have no plats or informatiOn on any additional driveways.
Any minor relocation of inlets should be a part of routine revisions.
Free right turn on MacArthur Blvd. to turn east on Sandy Lake Road - City of
Coppell Issue. This minor issue should be a part of routine revisions but
Sverdrup will debate thisi
i. Brick pavers - City of Coppell Issue.
DWU (BRIAN COWAN, P.E.) COMMENTS DATED JULY 13, 1996 AND
SVERDRUP (SHANNON HEBB, P.E.) RESPONSE DATED DECEMBER 10, 1996.
Raising pavement grade between Stas. 17+00 and 19+00 by a minimum of one foot to
avoid 30~ water line - The area in question is located west of Ma, Arthur Blvd. at tie-in
to KHA's section. Sverdrup's response that grades will be difficult to raise is probably
correct.
JOHNNY THOMPSON DEVELOPMENT ON SOUTH SIDE OF SANDY LAKE
ROAD.
This issue will probably require some additional work similar to that on Blackburn
Road.
T.U. TRANSMISSION LINE.
After meeting with T.U. on February 13, 1998, it appears that little, if any, additional
work will be required.
TIE-IN TO KHA'S PLAN WEST OF MACARTHUR BLVD.
It now appears that KHA'S section will be constructed before Sverdrup's which will
result in some required plan revisions. Further consultation will determine if any part
of these revisions would be considered additional work.
WOODRIDGE BOX CULVERT.
Revisions to the drainage design in this area will definitely be required, and probably be
considered additional work. The drainage structure option chosen will determine the
extent of that work.

SLOPE EASEMENTS (AB & A).
A meeting was held on February 12, 1998 to discuss this issue. File correspondence is
unclear as to an exact timeline for design revisions and ROW submittal. (See
Sverdrup's Correspondence File Review). The major points of contention regarding
AB&A's proposal was .the overall cost of the additional work relative to the original
contract and the item to find or replace previously set corners. AB&A is not likely to
significantly revise this proposal without Bud's involvement.
