I discussed the above referenced matter with Public Works Inspector
Larry Davis this morning and he informed me that the City has not
calculated or assessed the inspection fee on this project.
However, he has requested cost estimates in order that he can do
so.
The figure you discussed with me last week apparently is based on
Mr. Tanner's calculations. The inspection fee for the project will
cover only those items which will be inspected by City personnel,
i.e. paving, storm sewer. If this project has a project agreement
with the Municipal Utilities District, the District will inspect
the water and sanitary sewer. If not, the City will inspect all
construction.
The determination of whether the inspection fee is equitable based
upon the time involved can better be assessed once Larry has the
information needed in order to calculate the fee.
I will inform the Acting City Engineer to advise me once the fee
has been calculated in order to review this and further follow-up
to your inquiry.
I will provide a status report by September 28, 1990.
