Dear Hr. Duggan:
Land that I paidt to have leveled, paid to have hydromulched, that I
have watered, fertilized, and mowed for the past t~ s,rmmers, is being
graded and paved in order to widen Moore Road. Hopefully, this is for
the betterment of the community (though I doubt any of the residents
along Moore Road can see any benefit to themselves.)
But that is not what I am writing about. I am sending this letter to
ask hoW I may assure that I will always be able to get my boat in and
out of my back yard.
Before I moved in, (December 1983) I had a gate installed in my fence
whichfaces Moore Road. I bought a boat that spring. The gate is 8
feetwide; the boat is 7~ feet wide. I have been able to back the
boat through the gate (with some difficulty) for the past two seasons.
I am worried that construction on Moore Road will cause my boat to be
stuck in the back yard and/or that I will not be able to back it into
th~'gate~
I left a copy of the survey of my property with the P&Z people and asked
ifI could get a permit to put in a permanent driveway. I was told that
it was .against a city ordinance to have a driveway on Moore. (The
driveway to my garage is on Moore, as is my neighbors driveway which
was built last year.) I was told that I would have to request a varience.
I called and tried to get on the city council agenda, but was not allowed
to speak to the city secretary, (nor to the city manager). '
Ail I am asking is that you do what you can to make the widening of
MOore Road as painless as possible. Please assure me that my boat
will not be blocked~this summer.
I dtd~not get registered here early enough to vote in the Bond election.
I wasregistered in time to vote for you and to strategically place a
"DUC-GAN, sign~nmy yard along~Moor~RoaHU.~ Please help me to know that
I made the right decision.
Sincerely,
O./Mr Sh o ,
