Re: Moore Road -- Evaluation of Bidders
Dear Mayor Duggan:
We received bids for the above referenced project at Coppe11
City Hall on October 17, 1985, at 10:00 a.m. Enclosed are the
bid tabulations (base bid and alternate) of the eight partici-
pating bidders listed from low to high.
The iow bidder on both the base bid and the alternate bid was
Ashlar Contracting Company from Lewisville, Texas. Their base
bid was $1,938,351.95 and their alternate bid was $1,806,061.64.
Upon researching this company, we recommend that the contract
be awarded to Ashlar Contracting Company. Further, we recom-
mend that the alternate bridge be selected which reflects a
total contract price of $1,806,061.64. Construction time for
this contract is 300 calendar days with liquidated damages in
the amount of $750.00 per calendar day.
For your information, Ashlar Contracting Company has been in
existence for 8 years. The president and vice-president,
however, have been in the highway and heavy construction
business for approximately 25 years and have a very good
reputation in the metroplex as a bridge contractor. They
have satisfactorily completed similar projects for the City
of Dallas, City of Arlington, Dallas County, and private
development.
The bond program budgets $1.8 million for
this project. The total amount budgeted,
