Dear Mr. Griffin:
It has been more then a year since my last conversation and correspondence with Ms.
Daneahmand concerning the increased erosion due to past activities at NoFtblake
Industrial Park. To the best of my knowledge, there has been no response bom Mr.
Thompson to her letter of April 19, 1993.
Siltation and erosion problems have continued. The siltation in the culverts under Bethel
Road has increased dramatically and erosion damage is notable. This past year I was
forced to remove a one hundred year old oak tree along the bank of the drainage way on
the east side of my home. How do you place a value on such a loss?
Without follow-up and action the problem will continue to escalate. Culverts will continue
to fill, and increasing erosion will cause additional loss and expense. It is beyond my
conception that a developer is allowed to continue his pursuits in Coppell with such
disregard for city ordinances and authority. It adds insult to injury when you realize that
the developer of Creekview, once all lots were sold, initiated grading and excavation with
total disregard for his past customers and development.
I first met with the city engineering staffon November 3, 1992 to survey the problem Ms.
Daneahmand's letter to Mr. Thompson, dated December 2, 1992, reminds him of City,
State and Federal Ordinances applicable to this situation and request a meeting to discuss
a course of action. This letter indicates that construction approval expired in September
1990, but actMties continued throughout 1992 without grading permits.
The meeting was finally held in April 1993 and subsequent correspondence t~om the City
requested an Erosion and Sedimentation Control plan be submitted by May 1993.
Has this plan been submitted? If so, what action or follow-up has been taken? Has the
City of Coppell allowed Mr. Thompson and his Associates to continue other
developments? Will the city approve fuxther development by Mr. Thompson?
I can only surmise what the answers to these questions will be, but will await your reply.
S~c~ely,
Robert W. Bernhard
