There has been a complaint that the trees along Shadowcrest is restricting the
traffic flow in the Willow Wood Subdivision. Please identify any problems that
you find after making you inspection of this area. Before the city sends crews
to prune back these trees, it may be more appropriate to send door knockers to
the residents that live in front of those trees where the problems exist, and asking
if they would prefer to prune back the trees themselves.
In the event the city finds that it must address these problems, we should obtain
price quotes from vendors that do this full time, i.e., Asplundh Tree Expert Oompany.
The City Attorney has been requested to draft an ordinance that would require
the property owner to maintain an area up to fifteen feet from their property if
it would not overlap into another individual's property. In reviewing other
community's procedures, problems of similar nature are addressed using such a
vehicle as I've just described.
Please inform me of your findings by April 1, 1987. Thank you.
