Re: Sandy Lake Road Project ST 93-01
Dear Mr. Jessup:
This letter is written as a follow-up to our telephone conversation of June 27, 1994 in which we
discussed the elevation of the roadway in reference to the floodplain. As I stated, our ordinance
requires that the lowest top of curb be two foot above the existing floodplain elevation or one
foot above the ultimate floodplain elevation, whichever is higher. During the conversation, you
stated that it will be physically impossible to utilize the two eastern most driveways to the
developed area south of Sandy lake with the two foot above the existing floodplain elevation
requiremem.
I have reviewed the ultimate floodplain elevation as presented in the Albert Halff City-Wide
Storm Water Management Study and have found that the ultimate and existing floodplain
elevations are basically the same along this section of Sandy Lake.Road. Therefore, for the
portions of Sandy Lake Road adjacent to the developed areas, whic[tis approximately 1200 to
1500 feet east of the MacArthur/Sandy Lake Road intersection, I will allow the County to
construct the roadway with the top of curb one foot above the ultimate floodplain elevation.
This, in essence, puts the top of the curb at a minimum elevation of 447 adjacent to the
aforementioned developed areas immediately east of the MacArthur/Sandy Lake Road
intersection. To further accommodate the existing driveways, we also discussed the possibility
of raising the driveways to insure that they are accessible after the constl0a~t~ .~o. f Sandy Lake
Road.
I h°pe the adjustment °f the minimum t°P °f curb adjacent t° devel°pe~[~l~[~[ i~S~uu~
accommodating the final design of Sandy Lake Road. If you shou[,~
