Department of Public Works 411 Elm Street Fourth Floor Dallas, Texas 75202 RE: Sandy Lake Roadway, MacArthur to East city Limits (ST93-01) Dear Bill: This letter is written as a follow-up to the public meeting held on the referenced project on December 20, 1993. The main items discussed at the public meeting were the horizontal alignment and access to the adjacent properties. There was a substantial amount of conversation concerning the amount of fill to be placed on the roadway, and how the vertical alignment of the roadway would affect the adjacent properties. Based on our conversation afterwards, the overriding issue the County needs to resolve is whether or not the horizontal alignment fits the City of Coppell's needs. Based on the previous reviews of the roadway design, and based on the public input at the meeting, the City of Coppell offers no objections to the horizontal alignment of Sandy Lake Road from MacArthur to the East City Limits. It is my understanding, based on the review of the plans, that the minimum radius for any horizontal curvature is 850 foot. This meets the minimum requirements in our Roadway Functional Classifications and Designs Standards. Because you were at the public meeting, you know that there was substantial comment concerning the median openings and access to adjacent properties. It is my understanding that Dallas County will be reevaluating that aspect of the design and at some point in the future will be bringing forth a design that attempts to incorporate a majority of those comments into the design. 71' Ir I 'I '- Bill Jessup, P.E. December 21, 1993 Page Two Again, it is my understanding that the overriding issue for Dallas County was the approval of the horizontal alignment. As stated, the City offers no objection to the horizontal alignment. If you should have any questions, or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
