This variance has been requested by Mr. Don Davis, P.E., per the attached

Gentlemen:
Further pavement thickness analyses at the referenced site
indicate that the concrete thickness for fire lanes, service
drives, etc. should be 6 inches of reinforced concrete paving
with No. 3 re-steel at 18 inches on centers each way. In
parking and ocher areas, the 5 inches of reinforced concrete
paving rscommended in our Report HJ 5566 should be used. Ali
concrete pavement should De on 6 inches of lime stabilized,
compacted subgrade.
~e trust this czarifies our pavement recommendations. Please
Very truiy yours, ~5..." ._/~ ".7~'~

In the event reinforced concrete paving is used, it is
essential that any and all reinforcing be placed so as to
insure a minimum of 1 1/2 inch cover. It is believed that one
or more of the above suggested pavement sections, or some
combination thereof, may De entirely suitable for use on this
project. Selection of the proper section should be based on
anticipated traffic loads, frequency, and long term
maintenance, as well as project economics. In general,
asphaltic concrete sections have a Lower initial cost, but
require more frequent maintenance than the concrete surface.
