TR9302-CS 921103 November 3, 1992 Mayor Mark Wolfe City of Coppell City Hall 255 Parkway Blvd Coppell, TX 75019 Dear Sir, After having lived in Coppell for three years and experig~ng~ continued tax increases from all avenues of public government, I chose to attend the Council meeting of October 27, 1992. / I became very concerned after listening to the exchange regarding the letting of a bid for synchronizing the traffic lights on Denton Tap Road. It seems that the low bid was approximately $1600.00 over the budgeted amount for Coppell to spend. Rather than tell the company bidding for this service to be in line with what we can pay (private business would have done this), Council approved a non- essential issue that was over budget and the extra money came from a 1984 Bond Election. I was astounded. What other funds are "laying around" for Councils unsupervised use? I feel it's time the people of Coppell change this "business as usual" and make the Mayor and Council be the servants for the people instead of an entity that is bigger than the people. More taxes! I oppose all new taxes. I believe, especially after this meeting that Council should have to present in more detail the intended uses of any tax increases or bond elections and hold to them. I oppose the new sales tax and swimming pool (as I did previously). Council is not in tune with the needs and desires of the Community as a whole. Mayor Mark Wolfe November 3, 1992 Page Two Maybe it is time for citizens to unite in protest groups, re- call- elections etc., to get elected officials to heed their desires. / ~~ely~ Craig Niebes 529 Briarglen Drive Coppell, TX 75019 (214) 420-8714 -P.S.
