RE: Sandy Lake Road Denton Tap Road to MacArthur Blvd. (ST 93-02)
Thank you for your submittal of the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Sandy Lake Road.
The City of Coppell appreciates your interest in this project. The City of Coppell received 18
RFQ's. The RFQ's will now be distributed to the panel committee, which consists of the City
Planner, Director of Public Works and myself. That panel will independently review the RFQ's
and attempt to narrow the firms down to somewhere between four and six firms. At that point,
the panel will meet to discuss the qualifications of each of the firms. From that meeting, the
panel will short list the firms to approximately three or four. Those firms will be brought in
for presentations. Once the panel has heard the presentations, the list will be further reduced
to two qualified firms. It is anticipated, that at this point in the selection process that there will
be a Council Subcommittee convened to meet with the two qualified firms. After that meeting,
staff will make a recommendation to the City Council as a whole with the support of the Council
Subcommittee, on a firm to award the Sandy Lake Road design contract to.
It is anticipated that the presentations to the panel of the short listed firms will take place the last
week of April or the first week of May. Depending on the timetable for convening the Council
Subcommittee, it is anticipated that a recommendation to award a contract would be presented
at the May 25th or the June 8th, City Council meeting. I hope this information has been helpful
to apprise you of the time frame for the award of the contract for Sandy Lake Road design.
If you should have any additional questions concerning this project, I would ask that you refrain
from asking those questions of staff until the latter part of April when staff has had a chance to
review the RFQ's.
