"flIELECTRIC November 10, 1987 Mr. Steve Goram City of Coppell 1132 Deforest Coppell, Tx 75019 Dear Mr. Goram: You recently requested some clarification of the process by which street lights are requested in underground developments in Coppell. Below is a step by step outline of this procedure: Step 1 The developer provides TU Electric a street layout. TU Electric designs a street liB'htinZ system in accordance with the City of Coppell's lighting requirements. TU Electric prepares Form 1323 {Request for Street Lifhting Facilities) and forwards 3 copies of this document along with 3 prints showing proposed street ii~ht locations, to the City of Coppell for review. This document is the City of Coppell's request £or the new lights. Step 3 Jpo~ acceptance of khe street light design, the City of Coppell signs the Form 1323 and returns 1 signed copy to TU Electric. (The other two copies are for the City's recordsj. Step 4 Upon recezving the signed Form 1323 from the city, TU Electric determines the excess cost fo~ underground street lighting facilities and notifies tile developer of this cost. Step 5 The developer provides security to TU Electric for the excess cost for ui]derground facilities. Step 6 TU Electric installs street l~ghts along with underground service facilities. If you have any other questions or ~f we may be of any additional help, please feel free to call Glenn Fabian at 323-8911. Sincerely, Thomas Parsons Bistrict Manager TGP: GF: tah P. O. D ROADWAY LIGHTING CALCULATIONS Once you know the desired level of illumination (or the minimum level recommended from Section C), the next question becomes--How far apart do I put the poles to get this level of illumination? Keep in mind that level of illumination values are averaqe values and that usually calculations are based on maintained figures with the lamp at its lowest output and luminaire in its dirtiest condi~tion. There are also several ways to place poles along a roadway. Here are some of the more frequently used methods.
