Re: State Highway 121 Water Line
GTE Conflict
Dear Mr. Griffin:
As requested by Mr. Larry Davis, we have discussed the possibility of constructing the proposed State
Highway 121 water line by boring in those areas in conflict with the recently installed GTE underground
telephone cable. The contractor, H & W Utility Contractors has submitted a written proposal for the extra
work in the amount of $186.50 per linear foot for installing the 12-inch water line by boring. Of course, this
new pay item would replace the current pay item for installation by open cut in this same location. The net
result is a contact increase in the range of $49,000, depending on the actual length of the bore required.
We are enclosing a copy of the proposal for your consideration and records. In addition, the contractor has
submitted a written request that the contract time be suspended as of Monday, August 9, 1999 due to the GTE
conflicts and that seven additional days be added to the contract time. We offer no objection to this request
and recommend the City consider formalizing the time extension in a change order to the contract.
We are available to discuss this project further at your convenience.

due the conflict with GTE phone cables.
We would also like to request an additional seven days be added to the contract time for
the period of time we pulled offthe job for the emergency repairs requested by the City of
Coppell.
