Shadowridge Drainage Channel
Tickler 9-14-90
The Shadowridge channel has been under observation for a
considerable time. The grasses in the channel are being maintained
or should be maintained by the property owner. The easement is on
the plat within the property lines.
It is the nature of drainage channels to build up a
considerable amount of eroded material and subsequent growth of
vegetation during development of adjacent and surrounding
properties as was experienced in both the Woodridge and Parkwood
Channels.
I proposed some months ago to address the build up of eroded
materials, with the rental of a skid steer loader, which would
enable us to address the situation. The material would then be
used to fill in an eroded area of the channel which is addressed
with a proposed solution in the Albert Halff Drainage Study.
Due to the constantly wet conditions in the concrete flume
which lines the channel, this project will take a considerable
number of man hours to complete. I was expecting to be able to
begin this earlier this summer but unusually wet conditions, and
projects, such as the extension of the storm sewer pipe in the
Anderson Pocket Park, we have only but recently been able to keep
up with vegetation growth around the City.
The current condition has little affect as it pertains to the
channels hydraulic capacity whereby creating no concerns for
flooding.
I will be scheduling this activity to begin within the next
month given reasonable working conditions (weather).
