Re: Claim No: 64-589617-C9
Insured: M.A. Vinson Construction Co,, Inc.
Claimant: Donald Jones
Date of Loss: 5/8/95
Dear Mr. Jones:
We have completed our investigation into the above-listed claim. The conclusions of our
engineer are as follows:
1. Based upon l'ield observations and current slope stability analysis, we are of the opinion
that the previous slope failure has affected the pool decking in the vicinity of Boring B-3
in Section B-B. The slope is marginally stable in this area under present conditions.
2. Based upon field observations and current slope stability analysis, we are of the opinion
that the previous slope failure has not affected the residential structure located approxi-
mately 45 to 48 feet behind the expecting failure plane exposure at the surface in the
vicinity Boring B-2 in Section A-A. The slope is currently stable in this area under present
conditions, although some detention cracks were observed approximately 10 feet behind
the slope which corresponds approximately to the hypothesized failure plane exposure in
this area which is some distance from the existing structure.
Based upon the above information, we are prepared to make you an offer for some of the
damage that you have claimed. Our offer to compensate you for your loss is $3,172.72. This
offer is based on replacing the plaster pool sides and bottom, replacing plaster spa s{des and
bottom, replacing plaster sides and bottom - baby pool, replacing ceramic tile molding, replacing
4-inch concrete/spillway, and providing for the plumbing test and repair. This figure is the actual
cash value for the damage in question. Please consider this offer and contact me at your earliest
convenience so that we may secure the necessary release in return for the check in the amount
of $3,172.72.
