Tetrault, SHWC PERSONS PRESENT: RE: Meeting of June 16, 1986 on Coppell Eiem. School - Moore Road site Dr. David Stanfield, Supt. - Coppell I.S.D. Chief Mayfield (Coppell Fire Chief) Mr. Ed Powell (City Engineer) Mr. Ron Brookfield, Brookfleld-Lowry General Contr. Mr. Thomas Moore, Brookfield-Lowry Mr. Charlie Catterton, Brookfield-Lowry Mr. Gary Keep, SHWC Mr. George Tetrault, SHWC The following is our understanding of the items discussed and decisions made during the above-referenced meeting. Should we be incorrect on any item, please advise as soon as possible. Mr. Powell expressed concern that the general contractor not unload heavy construction equipment off of Moore Road or from in front of the fire station property, thereby obstructing Moore Road, which is currently under construction, since there is only a single lane in that area. The general contractor indicated that equipment would not be unloaded from the road, but would be taken to the site and unloaded on the site. The general contractor is to coordinate the schoolls construction with the Moore Road paving and with the paving contractor, Ashler. Mr. Powell has requested that any Saturday work on the general construction be limited to the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. so as not to disturb area residents. The City also asked if the general contractor could refrain from working on Sundays. The City Engineer also inquired as to what the work hours would be for the general construction during the week, and asked if they could be scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The general contractor did not feel that this was a problem, with the exceptionof concrete pours during the summer, which need to be done in the early morning when weather is COO1 in order for the concrete not to dry out too rapidly. o The general contractor indicated that they distribute mailbox notices of the construction activity. These notices would be put in mailboxes of the nearby homes, and they would also notify the police department of construction activities. o Mr. Powell asked that the general contractor provide phone numbers of persons available on 24 hours for emergencies during the construction of the school project. Memo to Dr. Stanfield June 25, 1986 Page two o 10. Mr. Powell indicated that the City will make the water line taps, and extend the water lines to the school property line. The general contractor, Brookfield-Lowry, is to make the sewer line taps and extend the sewer llne. The general contractor indicated that they would probably pour the building slab, and the paving and drives at the same time, and this would begin as soon as underground utilities are in place. Discussion was held as to construction employees parking areas, the contractor indicated that they would possibly approach from the back of the site, through the alley, and park on the back side of the property off of the alley. The general contractor Indicated that a construction shack will be moved on e site as soon as weather p rm~ts, and the origninal plans were to start clearing the site as of June 16, 1986. However, the site is too wet for this to commence as of June 16. 11. Mr. Powell requested that the general contractor try to refrain from using the allies as access to the site for concrete trucks. 12. Mr. Powell, City Engineer, stated that Dale Jackson of the City is the one who issues the building permits, and this normally is a three week turn around time, but that it would be o.k. for the general contractor to do earthwork and to prepare the 6uildlng pads, but not pour the concrete slab prior to the issuing of the permit. 13. Mr. Powell is to check with Mr. Steve Gorham as to the status of determining the fees to be paid by the School DJstrlct. 14. Brookfield-Lowry is to select a testing laboratory on June 16, and have them contact Mr. H. G. Doyle of SHWC for setting up of a meeting to discuss testing lab. procedures and testing requirements. 15. Mr. Powell indicated that all utilities would need to be mechanically tamped, that no water jetting would be allowed by the City of Coppelt. GCT:shg Mr. Ed Powell
