DR9306-CS 940128 January 28, 1994 Mr. Wayne Lea US Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District, SWFOD-R P.O. Box 17300 Fort Worth, Texas 76102 RE: Request for Jurisdictional Determination for Proposed Channel Improvements to Stream G-6, Tributary to Grapevine Creek, Coppel~, Texas Dear Mr. Lea: The City of Coppell plans to improve the subject channel in order to reduce the potential for flooding to the adjacent homes (three houses are within the 100 year flood plain), an to reduce the potential for siltation and erosion in the channel. The improvements will consist of the following four elements which were recommended in the recent "City-wide Stormwater Management Study": 1) Increase the capacity of the culvert under Bethel School Road by adding a 6 x 10 box to the existing structure. 2) Construct a 12' wide concrete pilot channel 300' long immediately upstream of Bethel School Road. Also construct 4' high retaining walls on both sides of the pilot channel and place rock rip-rap along a 50' long existing vertical wall. 3) For a distance of approximately 1400' upstream of the end of the proposed pilot channel clear debris, and grade and re- grass the channel. 4) Increase the channel bottom width to 20' for a distance of 30' downstream of Bethel School Road. Regrade the channel (grade to drain) downstream to it's confluence with Grapevine Creek, to provide positive drainage. Attached is a copy of recent City topography of the area. Please review and provide a jurisdictional determination. I would like to accompany your field agent if any trip to the site is planned. Thank you for your assistance.
