TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT BETNEL ROAD AND DENTON TAP ROAD

Because of the interest expressed by Council regarding the above
referenced subject, the following information is provided.
In a telephone conversation with Dan Meadors of Sig-Op, Inc.,
(Contractor), it was indicated that the traffic signal poles had been
ordered in the spring. It is my understanding there are a relatively
limited number of manufacturers who carry the necessary traffic signal
materials, and these manufacturers are located out-of-state. Also, there
are considerable orders for traffic poles by other entities - such as the
Highway Department - which may have caused a delay in date of delivery.
On April 30, 1991, we issued a written notice to Sig-Op, Inc. to proceed
on this project. Due to some minor corrections involving incomplete
forms, however, the actual contract documents were not finally executed
until June 20, 1991.
It is my understanding that the actual construction will take two to three
weeks once the needed material is delivered on or about the last week of
July. According to the contractor, the completion date is projected
toward the end of August. We will continue monitoring this project
closely and will keep you informed, accordingly.
