AUTHORIZATION TO PROCEED WITH THE
NEGOTIATION FOR LAND TO BE DONATED
BY THE BAPTIST FOUNDATION OF TEXAS
AND A TRAINING FACILITY TO BE
DONATED BY THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS
TEXAS ENGINEERING EXTENSION SERVICE
On motion of Mr. Clayton, seconded by Mr. Fernandez and by a unanimous
vote, the following minute order was adopted:
The Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University.System recognizes the
value of continued programs and activities of Texas Engineenn~ Extension Service's
North Texas Regional 'Fralning Center and is desirous of estabhshin~g such center on
property and in facilities being offered and provided by donation trom the Baptist
Foundation of Texas and the City of CoppeR, Texas. The conveyance of title often
(10) acres of land from the Baptist Foundation of Texas, out ot a..tract of approxi-
mately 115 acres owned by said foundati.o.n within the corporate I~mits of C.oppell,
Texas, will be gratefully accepted as a gift of lag. d to. Thee Te~. A~M Umversi~
System for the use and benefit of the Texas Engineen.ng. r. xtens~on ~ervice or SUCh
other System component conducting educational or traimngprograms and activities.
The acceptance of such ten (10) acres .of land shall be conditioned, however, upon
the construction of a building by the City of Coppell, Texas, on the property of not
less than 30,000 square feet in size at no cost to The Te~. ~A&.M Umv.e~ity S~tem,
except as to costs expressly agreed to by said System; an¢l turtla,e_r condiuoneo upon
title to said property being deemed acceptable by the System s legal counsel and
found to be free and clear of ~ record or notice of the land everbeinlg used as a
la~dfill or for the storage or dmposal of any hazardous or toxic materials or that
underground storage tanks are located under the property.
The Board expresses its grateful appreciation to the, City of Coppe?, t.he
Cooper Independent School Dis.m.'ct, and the Bap. tist l~ounoation of Texas tot tl~e
collective generosity in making this property avmlable and the demonstrated sup-
port to the-Texas Engineering Extension Service.

MANDATORY RETIREMENT AGE

TEXAS TIO, NSPORTATION INSTITUTE
On motion of Mr. Clayton, seconded by Mr. Fernandez and by a unardmous
vote, the following minute order was adopted:
The Board or Regents hereby grants an exception to Paragraph 9, Chapter
III, Objectives, Rules, Regulations for The Texas A&M University System, which will
allow employment through fiscal year 1990 on a seventy-five percent basis of Dr.
William J. Harris, E. B. Snead Distinguished Professor of Transportation
Engineering, Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering and Associate Dtrector of
the Texas Transportation Institute, who will become 71 years of age on June 17,
1989.
