Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 RE: Variance for paving thickness - Thacker Container, 505 Air- line Drive, Coppell, Texas Dear Ms. Daneshmand: This letter will serve as formal request to apply for variance in the construction of the paving thickness for the above mentioned project. Currently the drawings call for the truck court area and fire lane area to be 6" thick concrete paving wlth~ #3's at 18" o.c. The request for variance would be to provide 5" thick paving with #3's at 24" o.c. in all truck court and parking areas with the fire lane to be 6" thick with #3's at 24" o.c. Please notify this office if your department requires any addi- tional correspondence or documentation to proceed with processing of this application for variance. nOl Mark W. Suite 100 · Dallas, Texas 75229 · 214/350-5602 MEMO TO: Alan D. Ratliff, City Mana§er ~y L. Sieb, Director of Planning and Community Services FROM: SUBJECT:' Request to Waive Pavement Thickness Requirements DATE: July 16, 1991 This mornin§ the attached letter was delivered to Shohre requesting that Council waive the 6" concrete pavement requirement for Thacker Container. Although we have diligently worked with Thacker to make them welcome here expediting processing, offering tax incentives, cooperating whenever possible there comes a time when we must abide by our written guidelines. Such is the case with this request. We have granted 5" paving in some instances, but to do so in this instance - an industrial user in an industrial district in an industrially zoned area borders ~n irresponsibility. I can not endorse this particular request at this particular location, and urge the Council to not grant this waiver. Doing so will set a dangerous precedent, send the wrong message to the development community, is discriminatory in nature, and just does not make sense in our industrial areas which generate heavy truck traffic.
