(Kimbel Kourt to Coppell East City Limits)
Final Plan Items
Dear Mr. Hebb:
Please address the items in the February 6, 2001 letter from Ken Griffin, P.E., with the City of
Coppell on the above project. In addition, review R.O.W. documents for any required modifications
relating to the comments in the letter. Reference is also made to any previous Dallas County, City
of Coppell and Dallas Water Utilities review comments and plan mark-ups which have been
previously forwarded.
Because the City of Coppell will manage construction on this project, please ensure that all City
comments for the County project final design have been received. Any additional items/modifications
to the plans for the City bid which are beyond the County project scope may have to be addressed
outside the County contract.
Several general items on the final plans include the following:
1. Please provide all special and standard detail sheets for the project, which have not been
submitted to date.
2. Revise dates on the cover sheet.
3. The E.Q. sheet shows 35,000 S.Y. of concrete pavement removal?
4. The traffic control plan shows a detour section of 20'. The County requires 11' minimum lane
widths with another 2' of additional width preferable.
5. Are the specified Type II (A-A) buttons at 30' C-C on the traffic control plan subsidiary to
the work zone pavement markings?
6. Are any temporary concrete barriers required for the project?
7. Review drainage and parking lot modifications at the nursery. The property owner has
expressed concern about how the project will impact their access.

8. Show the asphalt transition from the intersection project on these plans.
9. Review the County's October 19, 2000 letter to the City in regards to retaining walls and
drainage.
10. Check drainage flow into proposed riprap near Sra. 43+00(LT.).
11. Include item for fence relocation at water facility site.
12. Does the City want a solid yellow stripe around the new median as shown on the striping
plan?
13. As mentioned previously, please check elevated driveways in regards to street runoff.
14. The existing brick Coppell sign is in a proposed slope. Will the City relocate this sign or will
the contractor? Do we need additional right-of-way for the sign?
15. As the CounW will not manage this project construction, complete County bid and contract
documents may not be required. Some elements of the documents need to be prepared for
the City project including (but not limited to) the bid proposal, general notes, written
construction sequence, and any special specifications.
16. Pr'ovide estimated construction cost.
Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at 214-653-7151.
Sincerely,
Mears, P.E.
