PROJECT ISSUES A. Retaining Wall at Heartz · Subcontractor will move in on March 1st. Half of the piers are in. They will move in to complete the work previously begun. According to the contractor, this will not effect the critical path. B. Project Schedule · Contractor will provide an updated schedule to the City by Monday morning. City is receiving negative feedback on the project from the media. · Contractor mentioned utility conflicts as a factor. Specifically, GTE conduit is in conflict on the west side of MacArthur Blvd. intersection. City has met with GTE in the field and is awaiting relocation. Jay Simms is the contact person for GTE. GTE poles are still in conflict on the SE side of the intersection (3-5 poles). · TXU has 3 poles in the way (1 on SW, 1 on NW, 1 on NE side). Power cable in conflict at Raven (TXU) - this line was unmarked and was cut. This isn't affecting the project. · Paragon Cable still has a line on the SW corner of the MacArthur intersection next to the TXU pole that must be relocated. · TXU transmission poles: 1 at Heather Glen, 1 at Castlebury, 1 at Moore, 1 at STA 71+00. · City mentioned possibility of taking the MacArthur Blvd. intersection out of service for 1 day and lowering the grade. Several manholes would need to be lowered. City is concerned about grade differentials during intersection phases. This would require maintaining a surface (HMAC) afterward until intersection paving begins. City requested contractor consider whether there is any benefit to this approach. · Contractor anticipates switching traffic next week pending dryer weather. After switch, contractor will continue with sidewalks, intersections, and alleys. GTE and TXU have lowered their lines that were in conflict at Moore Rd. intersection. Also remaining is storm drain work east of MacArthur and a manhole at Kimbel Court and Raven. C. Degraded Pavement Sections (No discussion this section) D. DWU Water Line Lowerings · Subcontractor intends to start on 2nd lowering first. · Lowering to continue once traffic is switched. E. DWU Change Order · The city inspector brought up the possibility of relocating the DWU cross- connection vault per the plans and specs instead of removing it and the cross- connection piping. This would avoid getting into the intersection pavement. City inspector will discuss this further with the contractor and make a decision. City inspector will meet with City staff and contractor on Friday, February 16th. This will be determined and a decision made within two weeks.
