'~ Meets all specifications of USC Foundation for Cros~ Connection Control and Hydraulic Research, · Docun'~ented flow Curves e~.tablish~d by University of Southern California Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research, · Simple service procedures, All internal pans serviceable in line. · Mainline unit has two independent spring loaded "Y" type check valves. · · By.pass line has water meter in series with an approved double check valve. · Corrosion resistant internal parts. Specifications The mainline unit shall consist of two internally spring loaded "Y" figure check valves having cast Iron booles, bronze replaceable seat rings and 300 series stainless steel stems and springs. The stems shall be guided with replaceable bushings in the cover and seat ring to assure positive check seating. Alt internal cast iron parts shall be epoxy coated. The by-pass tine assembly shall consist of ~ bronze body internally spring loaded double check verve ill se:ids with a bronze water meter. All check valve internal parts shall be easily accessible without removing the check valve body from tho line, Rated to 175 PSI working pressure and water temperatures from 32°F to 140"F. TI'lb duvice shall H ~eut ti ~u requiremu~tt'4 of USC Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research, Sixth Editior~, Description The Febco 806 DDC Device mainline unit consists of two ~ Independent, spring loaded, "Y" type check valves, two shut-off valves and four testcocks. The spring loaded poppets in ooniunction with serf elastomer discs provide drip bght closure against backtlow. The 'Y" p~ttarn valve design p~uvides Iow p~e~su~e Io~ at the higtl flow rates. The shut-of/valves are OS&Y type, UL listed for fireline Tr~e by-pass line assembly Consists of a water meter in sends with a double check valve. The meter is the total type with accurate registration between 1 and 20 gpm flow rates, The double check consists of two independently acting, spnng leaded, poppet Iype check valves· rhe static pressure drop across both checks is approximately 2 PSI less than the mainline check valves. All flow up to approximately ten (10) gpm is through the by-pass line, Above this flow rate the mainline check valves begin to open and flow occurs through the mainline and the by-pass line. This operation at Iow flow rates is accomplished by designing the differential pressure drop across the by-pass double check valve to be slightly less than the mainline double check vane, Therefore, the main- line check valve remains closed so that any flow through the flreline system is registered by the by-pass meter· Materials Mainline units have cast iron bodies with internal epoxy coating and bronze trim. a/,," by-pass units have bronze bodies with bronze trim, Nitdle seat discs, Gate valves supplied on the mainline are OS&Y, The by-pass gate valves are non-rising stem. Typical Applications Fire scrv~cc pipelines Installation Double Detector Check Valve Backflow Prevenlers should be installed with minimum clearance Of 12" between device .... Fire ' ~nd fleet or grade, They. should be inst,-...¢d where easily accessible fo,- ~es.$ting and maintenance and must be protected from freezing. They should have support blocks to prevent flange damage, Thermal water expansion and/or water hammer downstream of the 8ackflow Preventer can cause excessive pressure. Excessive pressure situations should be eliminated to avoid possible damage to the system and device.
