Floodplain Permit for Fence
(114 Winding Hollow Villages of Cottonwood
Lot 30, Block 8)
We have reviewed the above referenced request and have the following con~ents:
- It is our interpretation that the installed fence is in the floodway, as
shown on the attached survey plat you provided to us on 118 Winding Hollow,
Lot 29. Also, per Shohre's conversation with Greg Jones of your office,
it seems that the fence is 40+ feet within the floodway.
- As per the Coppell's Comprehensive Floodplain Ordinance #87390 and FEMA,
there should be no activitiest structures within a desiqnated floodway,,
including fences.
Attached please find copies of gradin9 plan from the subdivision plans
reflecting the above Site, in addition to the latest floodplain maps
prepared by Mr. Ron Morrison with Kimley-Horn, as part of FIS & FIRM
revision. Both of these sources indicate the fence is in and obstructc
the floodplain.
If the applicant still wishes to pursue this request to confirm that the
fence does not obstruct flood water flow, we suggest that a civil engineer
consultant registered in the State of Texas review and study this matter
for them and follow the guidelines as set forth in our Floodplain
Ordinance. Otherwise, we cannot grant a floodplain permit for this fence
since it obstructs the flood water flow.
I apologize for any inconvenience due to our response time and if you have any
questions, please call. Thank you.
