TR9101-CS 890130The City With A Beautiful Fu January 30, 1989 COPY P.O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 214 - 462 - 0022 MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: RE: Steve Goram, Director of Public Works Russell Doy E., City Engineer STREET LIGHTS BETHEL ROAD A week or two ago the Mayor requested that I investigate the need for a street light near the first white frame building on the north side of Bethel Road west of Bethel School Road. I field investigated the area and made the attached sketch. The units (circled) are in tenths of a mile from my Odometer readings (e.g. 3/4, 1/4, 1/2, etc.) or 528 feet. The lights are closely spaced at the intersection of Bethel and Bethel School Road, but become spaced further apart as you approach the white frame house. In fact, the distance between lights in the area of this house is approximately 2 units, or 1056 feet. Since you have stated that the City of Coppell policy for spacing street lights is 250 feet, then I think a light is warranted. Additionally, the mayor hit a puppy in front of this house one night and destroyed it. There is a power or telephone pole in front where a street light could be installed. to our knowledge of an accident, etc. of that white frame house I recommend a light there, due I would recommend using the procedure used by the Dallas Public Works Department (DPWD) and that the permission of owners on both sides of the light and both sides of the street be obtained. The DPWD has forms they use to get signatures. (They also charge the home owners a combined cost of $210.00 to install it).
