Re: State Highway 121 Water Line
Royal Lane to 675 Feet South of Corporate Drive
Dear Mr. G~ffin:
We are enclosing two sets of construction plans and specifications for the State Highway 121 Water Line,
from Royal Lane to 675 feet South of Corporate Drive. This submittal has been revised in accordance with
your mark-ups and written comments, and represents a 95% complete submittal. We are returning your mark-
ups of our 75% complete submittal.
As you requested, we have moved the water line crossing of Sandy Lake Road approximately 15-feet west
towards State Highway 121. Although this does eliminate one bend, it adds the necessity to provide an steel
encasemerit pipe under Sandy Lake Road, as we are now within the State' s right-of-way of S .H. 121.
Normally the State requires that the roadway bore pits be no less than 10-feet from the edge of pavement on
low volume roads. In this case, our alignment will not allow for that separation distance. At this stage, we are
not sure what the State' s response will be to this configuration at the intersection.
As you are aware, we have requested a variance to the alignment of the water line within the State' s fight-of-
way. As of this morning, we have not received a response back, so we have prepared this submittal in
accordance with the State's normal utility accommodation policy. Once the final alignment issue is resolved
and the plans meet with the City' s final approval, we will forward the required number of sets along with the
Notice of Proposed Installation for your use in formally submitting these plans to the Texas Department of
Transportation for approval. We are also forwarding these preliminary plans to the utility companies for
review and comment.
Enclosure
Based on this submittal, our opinion of probable construction cost for this project is in the range of $300,000.
We are available to discuss this project further at your convenience.
